Although the actual year of the ‘Fuyou Temple’s’ establishment cannot be determined, relics of the initial temple building were already seen in 1946, and the temple’s wood, cement and steel bards which date back to 1962, can also be seen. The temple administration has now recognized this old building as a ‘Cultural Relics Showroom.’
The new palace was built adopting the Chinese Huabei style of temple architecture. The architecture of the main hall under the horizontal beam abandoned the traditional stone sculpture, wooden sculpture or color painting but used porcelain and ceramics as decoration instead. Outside the walls on the left and right large “’wood carvings’ are displayed. Tourists can also visit the 12 scenes and 18 holes of the temple in a casual and relaxed mood after visiting the “Fuyou Temple.”
The 12 scenes include:
Stone Toad, Stone Cave, Dragon Head Cave, White Monkey Cave, Stone Treasure and 8-diagram Map, exorcising cave, Shibaojing Seal, Ten doctrines , Furnace, Stone Crab Cave, Stone Platform, and Tower.
There is a wonder stone that resembles a toad on the left side of ‘Fuyou Temple,’ which is referred to by the local residents as the ‘Toad Fairy.’ It comes with a beautiful legend; remember to explore the miracle of this stone toad.
