The fame of ‘Dongshan Fried Rib’ has caught up and even tied with ‘Dongshan Duck’s Head’ from Dongshan District of Tainan City over the past few decades, and it has gradually become one of the specialty snacks of Dongshan District. Though ‘Dongshan Fried Rib’ has only become famous over the past few decades, it has been around for nearly 80 years now.

‘Dongshan Duck’s Head’ is renowned all over Taiwan, and wherever you go, it is easy to spot the ‘Dongshan Duck’s Head’ sign on street stalls. Not many people know the meaning of Dongshan’ and many people misread ‘Dongshan’ as ‘Shandong.’ Nonetheless, most people in southern Taiwan know that ‘Dongshan’ refers to the Dongshan District of Tainan City, while the founding ‘Dongshan Duck’s Head’ eatery was that of ‘Lan Ji,’ whose ingredients and preparation were all carried out by the Owner Lan. Hence ‘Lan Ji Dongshan Duck’s Head’ has been able to maintain its unique taste and flavor, and continue to stay at the top of the snack industry in Taiwan.
