An-Ca Chen
An-Ca Chen was born in 1886 and lived in Dake Village all his life. In 1911, he served as Fanshe District Chief and earned a high degree of public recognition. In 1921, when Fanshe Cooperative Association was formed, he served as the first Cooperative Association Chairman and made many contributions. During the period of Japanese rule, the Association underwent administrative restructuring to form Fanshen Village and he served as the Village head. By 1937, when Japan invaded China, he resigned since he did not want to be an accessary to their actions. After Taiwan’s Retrocession, he was then elected to the first Provincial Council.
Wan-De Duan
Born in 1920, Duan lived in Donghe Village all his life and came from a rich farming family. He was a kind person who often gave food and clothing to the poor. He also donated some coffins to bury unknown dead people. He passed away in 1972, and before his death he left a will to donate 4 years of rent, an amount of NTD 400,000.- to the County hospital to enhance medical equipment. He also left a will to establish scholarships for Dongshan Junior High School and Donghe Elementary School with an annual donation of NTD6,000 to benefit society and youth.
